Position Summary NPPD is hiring a Physical Security Specialist.
The preferred candidate will have experience performing Security Assessments, Threat Vulnerability Assessments (TVA's), and have a track record of implementing policy and/or technology solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities.
It is preferred that candidates have strong writing and organizational skills, be self-driven, have project management skills, and have knowledge or experience using the CARVER TVA methodology.
This is a multi-level position and placement will be determined based on the qualifications below.
Incumbent works with the Corporate Physical Security Manager with the coordination of physical security requirements and functions (providing protection of corporate assets (i.
e.
people, physical, cyber, capital, etc.
) development of policies, procedures, processes and programs related to physical security and emergency preparedness; audits and investigations; coordination of with contract security staff and law enforcement; Threat Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) and Security Assessments.
Incumbent will be a subject matter expert as it relates to physical security for NERC CIP, DHS, and FERC requirements.
Education, Training and Experience Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field and 5 years' experience in law enforcement, military, or private security; or an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice or related field and 8 years' experience in law enforcement, military, or security; or High School/GED and 12 years' experience in law enforcement, military, or security.
This position may, at times, require the incumbent to carry a concealed weapon, and as such, individuals in this role must meet all state and federal requirements to legally carry a firearm, with preference given to those with extensive training in firearms, use of force, and weapon retention techniques.
The Corporate Physical Security Manager will be responsible for assigning armed security duties based on business need.
Experience developing, implementing, and presenting active shooter programs is preferred.
Experience interacting with irate or uncooperative persons and using de-escalation tactics to resolve the situation is preferred.
Experience working with facility access control, video surveillance, network intercom, and alarm monitoring systems preferred.
Project planning or project management experience is preferred.
Investigative experience in law enforcement or military is required.
Investigative experience in a corporate environment is preferred.
Extensive training on firearms, use of force, and weapon retention techniques is preferred.
Knowledge of security program principles, concepts, practices, and methodologies is preferred.
Experience developing security policies and procedures and performing Threat Vulnerability Assessments and security assessments is required.
Experience in public speaking and presentations required.
Education, Training, and Experience Senior Coporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator In addition to meeting all requirements of the Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator, Senior level candidates must meet the following additional requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice or related field and 10 years' experience in law enforcement, military, or private security; or an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice or related field and 13 years' experience in law enforcement, military, or security; or High School/GED and 16 years' experience in law enforcement, military, or security.

Licenses and/or Certifications Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator :
ASIS, ATAP, or other Security related certification are preferred; Valid vehicle operator's license is required.
Threat Vulnerability Assessment certification required within 1 year of hire.
Senior Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator :
ASIS PSP and/or CPP Certification(s) is required; ATAP, or other Security related certifications are preferred; Valid vehicle operator's license is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator Formulates and implements security policies, standards, plans, methods, and procedures for the protection of personnel, facilities, and sensitive information; develops countermeasures for any real or perceived terrorist, or criminal threat to facilities, personnel, and protected information.
Conducts Threat Vulnerability Assessments (TVA), Security Assessments, and inspections to ensure that facilities comply with security practices, plans, policies, and procedures.
Determine any necessary adjustments or upgrades; formulates solutions that address security risks and concerns.
Maintains rapport with local, state, and federal law enforcement and gathers intelligence information regarding crime trends, suspicious persons, and other law enforcement and security related interests.
Maintains liaison with law enforcement authorities to ensure the necessary physical security for facilities and personnel.
Investigate effectively and efficiently external and internal criminal activity when directed by management or upon request of Internal Controls or General Counsel's Office.
Assist or lead internal criminal and non-criminal investigations.
Investigate internal employee/contractor misconduct issues while working closely with HR, Legal, and department managers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Continued) Senior Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator:
In addition to meeting all requirements of the Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator, Senior level candidates must meet the following additional requirements:
Design, procure, install or coordinate installation, and maintain/troubleshoot physical security systems which include burglar/theft detection systems, cameras, DVR's, Mobile Surveillance Units (MSU'S), access control, and GPS tracking systems.
Manage the maintenance and monitoring of such systems.
Respond to the physical security needs of NPPD management and staff in order to protect assets from criminal activity.
Ability to safely and successfully pass all established firearms training.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.

$5,927.
00 - $7,409.
00 Senior Corporate Physical Security Specialist/Investigator Pay Grade - 13 Monthly Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:
$6,648.
00 - $8,310.
00 Travel Required:
25% to 50% (With frequent overnight stays, more than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need.
