Examples of Work:
Maintain and repair a variety of machines and equipment in the facility. Perform alterations to buildings such as layout and frame walls and ceilings, install and finish drywall, install and repair ceramic and vinyl floor coverings, repair electrical appliances and fixtures, repair plumbing and fixtures. Perform preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment. Operate machinery to assist in snow removal and other grounds maintenance.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENT: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance trade and one year of experience OR three years experience in skilled maintenance, construction or mechanical trades and experience leading/directing others in such work; experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED: Experience working with mechanical, electrical and/or pneumatic systems. Experience in the general maintenance of heating and cooling equipment. Any welding, electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry experience a plus.
OTHER: Must have valid drivers license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams: a medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work an on-call rotation. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be able to work off of ladders and scaffolding.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
