NDT Inspector (2nd Shift)

Get onboard the UTC Aerospace Operations and Supply Chain team and play a part in managing our innovative products from inception to delivery. Inspector shall apply all basic principles, methods, equipment, operating procedures and inspection techniques to products requiring specific methods of non-destructive testing per applicable specifications and/or instruction.

  • Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method in which they are certified.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard. Capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees, Level 1, or Level 1 Limited personnel in the technique/method in which they are certified.
  • Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the methods as utilized by Hamilton Sundstrand.
  • Be capable of developing and documenting NDT work instructions. All NDT work instructions require Responsible Level 3 approval.
  • Must be able to pass written and physical exams for each specific NDT method. Shall pass re-certification exam on a 5 year interval.
  • Standing/walking: 90% OTT (of the time) and in areas that are in close proximity to other equipment.
  • Sitting: 10% OTT
  • Lift/carry:
  • Push/pull: Normal usage with horizontal pressure for clamping parts and use push carts / pallet jacks to move hardware.
  • Climbing:2% OTT (elevator is available)
  • Bending/twisting: 20% OTT.
  • Kneeling/squatting/crawling: 5% OTT.
  • Reaching: 20% OTT, arms extended out from the body with weight requires use of both limbs. Occasional use of arms extended above the shoulders.
  • Grasping/gripping/pinching/fine manipulation: 40% OTT while inspecting hardware.
  • Other physical demands:
    • Knee control to operate Magnaflux machines
    • Contact with oils and chemical vapors from products during the normal manufacturing process.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use computer applications (including email, internet, and other job-specific applications)
  • Ability to use basic measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations (add and subtract decimals)
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Read and write English at a level sufficient to perform job functions
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Communicate and interact with others in a professional, polite, and cooperative manner.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required, with previous equivalent work experience in NDT.
  • Associate Degree in Nondestructive Testing Technology, preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
